Begrime Exemious - Visions of the Scourge

Begrime Exemious are a Canadian band whose latest album "Visions of the Scourge" was just released on April 4th. The band are one of those blackened death metal bands with an underground aesthetic that I absolutely love. The production is perfect for this style of music: Not so muddy that you can't hear what the hell is going on, but nice and dirty sounding. The vocalist sounds like a zombie freshly risen from the grave, the guitars buzz and shriek and the drums blast away.
In short this is some great underground death metal that anyone into this stuff should pick up right away. However, don't get the idea that there is no melody at all in these songs as some of the songs have a good catchy groove to them, particularly the track "Oath of Impiety".
Standout tracks include the aforementioned "Oath of Impiety", "Sacrament of Virgin Flesh" and "Relic of Befouled Incantations." Support the band and pick this one up if you're at all into the more underground blackened death metal. (8/10)
